VHF Transmission Distances

Given the Height of Eye (or Antenna), compute the distance to the Horizon.

For VHF radio transmission distances add together the antenna heights of the two stations (yachts) for the height of eye. It is for this reason that VHF repeater stations are usually located on mountains giving a much greater "Height of Eye" and therefore a much greater transmission range.
